FBI requesting records of CCP holders in MO; ATF going door to door in DE

Two alarming stories broke recently regarding the out of control Federal government and they should concern every American.

FBI audit of Concealed Carry Permitholders

According to several Missouri sheriffs, the FBI is now informing sheriffs in Missouri that beginning in August, the FBI will be performing an audit of Concealed Carry Permit holders in the state.

The FBI Public Affairs Specialist Bridget Patton said in an email the agency never asks for personal information during these audits. “As part of the planned Missouri audit, a small sampling of system transactions is to be inspected for compliance and to ensure there is no misuse of CJIS systems,” Patton wrote. “At no point would auditors require access to lists such as state-approved concealed carry holders, nor would the CJIS Division retain information beyond what is necessary to address a specific compliance concern. Missouri has been through this routine audit multiple times, most recently in 2018.”

But why are they doing this at all? Why does the FBI think that they have the right to request any information on people that haven’t committed a crime?

Multiple sheriffs across Missouri have publicly announced that they will stand up for the second amendment rights of their citizens and will not give out any concealed carry information to agencies that ask for it.

Scotland County sheriff Ralph E. Kersey has stated that “As the sheriff of Scotland County, I want all my citizens to know that I will not allow, cooperate or release any CCW information to the FBI, ‘even at the threat of a federal arrest”.

Camden County sheriff Sgt. Scott Hines stated that ”That’s fundamental to our Second Amendment rights that every American has, and when you start questioning who can have access and why would we not allow access? Or why as a permit holder would I not want someone to know that is because it’s really none of their business”.

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt has sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, criticizing the decision to audit Concealed Carry Permit holders and stated that “The FBI has absolutely no business poking around in the private information of those who have obtained a concealed carry permit in Missouri”.

“The Second Amendment rights of Missourians will absolutely not be infringed on my watch,” he added. “I will use the full power of my Office to stop the FBI, which has become relentlessly politicized and has virtually no credibility, from illegally prying around in the personal information of Missouri gun owners.”

Schmitt also made sure to point out that “You may wonder why there is such strong suspicion of federal agents here in the ‘Show Me State.’ Simply put, Missourians are hard-working, law-abiding citizens who don’t need a national nanny-state keeping tabs on us. But more than that, over the last couple of years, we’ve seen story after story of incompetence and corruption at the highest levels of the FBI,” he added.

Good for these sheriffs that are refusing to comply with this severe overreach of the Federal Government and the Attorney General that is telling the FBI that this isn’t going to be allowed in his state. I hope we see sheriffs across America stand up and say no, you will not do this here.

ATF going door to door in Delaware to check firearm purchases

Unlike Missouri, the sheriffs in Delaware likely won’t be sticking up for the second amendment rights of their citizens.

Video footage from a Delaware man’s Ring Doorbell shows two ATF agents and a Delaware State Police trooper showing up to a man’s home without a warrant, and questioning him about recent firearm purchases that he made. They informed him that because he made two firearm purchases the same day, he was flagged. They had the records for the two purchases and claimed that they only wanted to verify that he had the firearms.

“All I’m doing is verifying that you have it, you got two different purchases,” the agent said, pointing to a document that presumably shows the purchases. “If you have them, I’m out of here. That’s how quick it is. Yeah. Do you have them with you by any chance?” the agent said.

“They’re in my safe,” the homeowner answered.

“If you can unload them and bring them out, we can go out to your foyer here, check them out, write the serial numbers and we’re out of here,” the agent said.

“It will take five seconds,” added the second agent.

The Delaware State Police trooper added that “the reason we’re out here is obviously gun violence is at an uptick. We want to make sure, we’ve been having a lot of issues with straw purchases. One of the things, indicators we get is someone making a large gun purchase, and then a lot of times, we’ve been there and ‘oh, those guns got taken.’”

The homeowner did end up complying but later admitted that he felt pressured into doing so.

What to do if this happens to you

You need to know that if this happens to you, you absolutely can refuse to comply until they get a warrant. They can not legally enter your home and they can not legally pressure you into turning anything over for any reason if they do not have a warrant.

If they don’t end up coming in without a warrant, make it clear that you are only complying out of duress. I would probably advise getting a doorbell camera and maybe some other secret cameras as well so that this is all caught on video if it were to happen to you.

Also make sure you know your local sheriff and where they stand on stories like this. Ask if they would comply if the Federal government does decide to do something radical like confiscate guns or start going door to door asking to see your guns.
