On April 1st, the Biden Administration announced that effective May 23rd, they will be putting an end to Title 42, the Trump era policy that allows for illegal immigrants to be expelled quickly. This rule was put into place at the start of the covid-19 pandemic and has been used to expel a majority of illegals instead of releasing them into the United States.
After the announcement, Morning Consult released a survey, noting that eliminating Title 42 is the most unpopular decision by the Biden administration so far. They found that 56% of registered voters oppose the decision to end Title 42.
West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin called this a “frightening decision” and warned that this decision will lead to the crisis at the southern border getting even worse then it already is.
“Title 42 has been an essential tool in combatting the spread of COVID-19 and controlling the influx of migrants at our southern border,” Manchin said in a statement. “We are already facing an unprecedented increase in migrants this year, and that will only get worse if the Administration ends the Title 42 policy. We are nowhere near prepared to deal with that influx. Until we have comprehensive, bipartisan immigration reform that commits to securing our borders and providing a pathway to citizenship for qualified immigrants, Title 42 must stay in place.”

As a result of the Biden administration putting an end to Title 42, Border Patrol agents are now being told to brace for 500,000 illegal immigrant apprehensions every month starting May 23rd. That is 18,000 illegals per day flooding the southern border.
It’s really puzzling why the Biden administration would make this move in a major election year. There is no immediate political benefit to 500,000 more illegals flooding the U.S. border, unless you are just trying to cause chaos, which may be what the goal is.
According to CNN, Homeland Security is “preparing temporary facilities to handle an increase of people, deploying hundreds of officers to assist, and leveraging partnerships with other federal agencies, among other measures. This week, DHS also began offering Covid-19 vaccines to migrants encountered at the US-Mexico border and is expected to grow that program in the coming weeks.” They are expecting the crisis to be so bad that they may send VA doctors down to the border to deal with the crisis.
I am curious if the same people on the Left will have the same reaction to the “children in cages” and push the same narrative that we heard from them under Trump and if Alexandria Ocasio Cortez will do a photo op crying in front of a closed off parking lot, looking like she’s so concerned with these children that were ripped out of their mothers arms. My guess is no, because they only present this fake concern for “children in cages” when a Republican is in the White House and ignore it when a Democrat President follows the same policy.
